The Clonmel Skittle Club hosted the 31st
All-Ireland Skittle Championship over the August Bank Holiday
weekend at the Hillview Sports Club. There was a great turnout over
the weekend with 16 men’s teams and 4 ladies teams. Competitors
travelled from all parts of the country – Wexford, Cork, Limerick,
Tipperary, Kilkenny, Cavan, Fermanagh, Mayo, Down and Antrim.
Competitions were held in 9 different categories varying from team
to individuals. We would like to congratulate all winners over the
weekend particularly the Shamrocks from Co. Cavan who won the men’s
senior team competition. The Shamrocks have now won the title for
the last five years in a row, a fantastic achievement in any sport,
and will be strong favourites to retain the title on their home turf
